In 2003, restaurant Bastiaan, in the culinary Lange Veerstraat, closed its doors and made way for chef Jan Stroes. Jan, who had been working as a chef in Bastiaan's kitchen for years, managed to take over the name of the restaurant with the creative change of one simple letter. BastiJan was open.
