Andrea Hinnen, born and raised in Switzerland, began her career in the fashion industry as a certified window dresser (Modissa, Zurich; Grande Passage, Geneva). She then spent a year and a half training as a textile designer at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), the state-run college for design in New York, where design luminaries such as Donna Karan, Calvin Klein, and Chie Mihara also studied. Following this, she gained diverse professional experience in the fashion capital of New York for approximately seven years; among other things, she created prints for major fashion houses such as Gap, Ann Taylor, Tommy Hilfiger, and J. Crew as a freelancer for various textile design agencies.
