About us
Culinary Hospitality, Family legacy, and slowing down to enjoy local food Traditions
At La Gran Tasca, we've been the place to eat the best Cocido in Madrid since 1942.
We cherish the tradition of slow-cooking it, with the dedication and meticulous attention to detail that a great Madrid-style Cocido demands: 15 carefully selected ingredients, 48 hours of preparation, served daily in two courses. The Repsol Guide sums it up like this: "the cocido with the most ingredients in the capital."
This commitment, sustained for decades, has led to numerous awards and accolades, and has allowed us to welcome many prominent figures from the worlds of culture, sports, gastronomy, and society, all of whom have contributed to the rich history that permeates these walls.
We are especially grateful to the Royal Academy of Spanish Gastronomy for selecting us among the legendary restaurants that are part of Madrid's culinary history, and for recognizing us as an active participant in a tradition that the Community of Madrid has declared an Asset of Cultural Interest , in order to preserve the legacy of the Madrid-style Cocido.
In the kitchen, it's about quality ingredients, time, and skill. In the dining room, it's about warmth, experience, and hospitality. And at every table, generations of diners have made La Gran Tasca a Madrid classic.
A place to come when you want to be sure of a great meal.
