The Oriental Museum , founded in 1874, is the fruit of this long and intense missionary adventure. Its headquarters are in the Royal College of the Augustinian Fathers, built from 1759 onwards, based on plans by Ventura Rodríguez. The museum's current facilities were inaugurated by Their Majesties the King and Queen of Spain, Juan Carlos I and Sofía , on October 12, 1980. It comprises 18 rooms of Chinese, Filipino, and Japanese art, which constitute the finest collection of Oriental art in Spain
